The Gold Coast…just got a little more luxurious. We can’t help but give a warm welcome to the brand-new steakhouse, Maple & Ash, which opened on October 23rd. Three years in the making, Maple & Ash is pulling out all the stops to make sure you have a magnificent experience. Fab Food Chicago was honored to be invited to the restaurant’s Preview Week, where we got a chance to see their full menu and select cocktails. Here’s a rundown of our night……

Allende is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that you might pass over at first glance. I highly recommend you don’t or you’ll miss out on a treasure trove of authentic Mexican food. Although the interior design of the restaurant leaves much to be desired, Allende gives you great Mexican food for a price that won’t hurt your wallet….
It was one of those days that I was flipping through my Instagram feed and saw a post from @EverythingErica and @EatTravelRock about a pasta recipe contest, sponsored by The Pasta Bowl, a restaurant specializing in classic Italian comfort food. So I told myself, why not just enter for the fun of it. Knowing my type A personality, (an attribute well known to chefs/pastry chefs), I started thinking of a pasta recipe that bought so much joy to the people I made it for. It’s an incredibly rich Angel Hair Pasta with Prosciutto Cream Sauce that I would only allow myself to make once a year since it is known as a “Heart Attack on a Plate”.

I was that weird kid in high school who would beg her parents for money to take cooking classes or buy cookbooks instead of shopping for clothes and CDs (yes, I’m a child of the 90’s). Now I choose to spend my time and money on all things related to food, whether it is adventures in Chicago or halfway across the globe in Southeast Asia, where I am originally from. My journey has been slow and extremely hard, but it’s been fun. It’s made me the person that I am today.

Earlier this year, I took hubby to Juno for his birthday. He wanted great food in a casual environment. Juno was the perfect place. The food is always consistent and never disappoints. Chef B.K. Park is a master of his craft who takes the art of sushi seriously.
