Mango Pickle, in Edgewater, is a new restaurant serving contemporary Indian cuisine. It opened six months ago by husband and wife team, Nakur Patel and Marisa Paolillo. Paolillo is the chef at the restaurant. She lived in Bombay for nine years and worked at an American restaurant while she was there. When they moved back to Chicago, they wanted to incorporate their experiences from India into their restaurant concept here.

Bernie’s Lunch & Supper is located in the hip River North neighborhood. Chef Zack Sklar’s first venture in Chicago is part of the Michigan based-restaurant group, Peas & Carrot Hospitality. The restaurant is named after Sklar’s grandfather and the menu is focused on pan-Mediterranean flavors. Yeah, pan-Mediterranean is a thing.
Monteverde, located in the West Loop, is Sarah Grueneberg’s (Spiaggia, “Top Chef”) first solo endeavor. The food comes from the soul and filled with passion. The menu is heavily focused on pastas, which are handmade and fresh throughout the day.
