Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We’re thankful for all the food we’re about to eat especially the PIES! We, (@topchicagoeats) and (@hangry_amy), begrudgingly (sarcasm) tasted pies from all over the city and created this list of their favorites!
The crisp, colorful leaves are falling off trees and Chicago temps are quickly dropping. That can only mean one thing…FALL! Fall has always been my favorite season so of course, we can’t forget about all the seasonal treats that come with sweater weather.
Katana is celebrating their one year anniversary! It is a popular Japanese restaurant, which originated in Los Angeles and opened last year here in Chicago. The kitchen is led by chef Jose Melendez and Rob Juan. The trendy, modern vibe of the restaurant really suits the River North neighborhood. Katana markets its original location in L.A. as “the place to be.” They are on the right path to accomplishing the same for Chicago as well.
Who says suburban restaurants need to be boring or limited to chain restaurants? Downtown Evanston has one of the most vibrant food scenes in the Chicagoland area. From farm-to-table to ravioli and Asian eats, all your cravings are just a stone throw’s away and easily accessible via CTA Purple Line and Metra North Line….
Flowers are so basic… but Caramel Apple Roses are definitely not! I’ve never been a big flower person and my husband knows never to buy me any. Even at our wedding, I wanted the least number of flowers possible. Yes, they are beautiful to look at and pleasant to smell, but they never last very long….
Chicago’s North Shore Convention & Visitor’s Bureau is celebrating their 10th year of North Shore Restaurant Month. Every year, participating restaurants in the North Shore offer special dining deals for the whole month of February, except Valentine’s Day. Offers include 15% off guest check, FREE appetizer or dessert with a purchase of an entrée, and special prix fixe menus. It’s a wonderful way to try a new restaurant in the area or go back to your favorites.
February is the sweetest time of the year…literally. From heart-shaped cookies to red velvet cake, there is no shortage of Valentine’s Day themed treats. Whether you prefer traditional seasonal favorites or creative one-of-a-kind treats, my list has you covered.
It’s one of my favorite times of the year… Choose Chicago‘s Chicago Restaurant Week. Over 370 restaurants participated this year with special prix fixe menus for brunch ($22), lunch ($33), or dinner ($44). Normally it runs for two weeks (this year: January 26-February 8) but they just announced they will be extending a few more days (until February 11 at select restaurants) to align with Chicago Theatre Week. Don’t miss your chance!
It’s that time of year. With the Christmas music playing aloud and pretty lights all around, you can’t help but get into the holiday spirit. I can’t think of a better place to spend a day, during this time, than at Chicago’s Christkindlmarket.
