Halloween is right around the corner and sweet treats are the best for the occasion, especially Rice Krispies treats! Planning and preparing for a party can take up a bulk of your time, especially if you are hosting. I like to save time by making simple but delicious treats to serve to my guests.
Make the occasion extra festive by decking out your Rice Krispies treats in black, orange, and white. This recipe is also an enjoyable Halloween activity to make with kids. It’s a fun way to get their hands dirty in ooey gooey marshmallowy goodness.
- 5 cups of mini Jet Puff marshmallows
- 2 cup original Rice Krispies cereal
- 2 cup cacao Rice Krispies cereal
- 12 Halloween Oreos (crushed)
- 3 Tablespoons of butter
- Melt butter and 4 cups of marshmallows together. You can do this on the stove on low heat or microwave in 10 second intervals until mixed.
- Mix crushed Oreos and Rice Krispies in large bowl.
- Pour butter and marshmallows over cereal and Oreos.
- Mix thoroughly to make sure everything is covered with the butter and marshmallow mixture.
- Spread onto baking pan evenly.
- Sprinkle remaining marshmallows over pan.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 7-10 minutes or until brown.
- Cut into rectangles and enjoy!
Experiment with different ingredients and make it your own. You can add different toppings and/or drizzle chocolate. I love the toasted marshmallow on top because of the wonderful colors. It also brings a different texture to the Rice Krispies treats.
FAB TIP: Make sure to work quickly once the marshmallow and butter is melted so that it’s easier to cover the cereal thoroughly.
Have a spooky one!
Until the next venture.
With love,
Van
