Halloween is the perfect wicked holiday to freak out about crispy caramel apples, devilish chocolate bars, and sweet candy bark. What other day can you spook your body into a sugar-induced coma while dressed like a superhero?
Don’t get me wrong, I love sugar! From decadent chocolate cakes to fresh homemade cookies, I’m the type who will look at the dessert menu before ordering my meal. #eatdessertfirst
I thought I had a big sweet tooth, until…I met my husband. I came to this hair-raising realization when we took our first trip together. I asked if I could borrow some suitcase space and when I looked in his bag, he had 10 pounds of candy packed. Filled with gummy bears, jelly beans, and Swedish fish, there was no room. Trick or treat.
Between the two of us, you can only imagine what our pantry looks like. So during the holidays, I like making festive candy bark since I can add my faves and his.
Candy corn is hubby’s fave! He probably goes through a bag (10 oz) a day during the holidays. No joke. I cringe just thinking about it.
Oreo cookies are my guilty pleasure. As I kid, I used to twist open the cookie and scrape the filling between my teeth. Then I would proceed to dunk the cookie into a glass of milk, until it got a little soft. I am sure everyone did the same since it is the best way to eat an Oreo!
The possibilities are endless. Use your favorite sweet treats.
Here’s a simple recipe for these enchanting Halloween Candy Bark, inspired by Kelly Senyei of Just a Taste.
- 24 oz Nestle dark chocolate morsels.
- 4 oz Nestle white chocolate morsels.
- Halloween sprinkles
- Choose your favorite treats. I used:
- 8-10 Halloween Oreos, cut into fourths
- 1 cup Brach’s Autumn Mix
- ½ cup Reese’s Pieces
- 6 snack-sized Kit Kat bars, broken in half
- Wilton candy eyeballs (I like adding fun elements.)
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Cut the Halloween Oreos into fourths. Place in bowl.
- Break the Kit Kat bars in half. Set aside.
- Melt the dark chocolate morsels using a double-broiler (avoid all contact with water) or microwave until warm (not hot). Stir frequently so it melts smoothly. FAB TIP: Use low heat when melting chocolate. Overheating will make the chocolate thick and muddy.
- Pour melted chocolate onto the baking sheet. Spread evenly with spatula.
- Sprinkle the crushed Oreos, Brach’s Autumn Mix, Reese’s pieces, Kit Kat bars, and candy eyeballs throughout the melted chocolate. Make sure to push into the chocolate to adhere.
- Add the Halloween sprinkles.
- Melt the white chocolate morsels using same method as above.
- Drizzle over the top in a zigzag motion.
- Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
- Break the bark into pieces.
- Enjoy!
