Kitchfix delivers delicious, chef-prepared meals in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. What sets Kitchfix apart from other meal delivery services? All their meals are free of gluten, dairy, corn, and soy. They only use high-quality, all-natural ingredients, and whenever possible, organic and locally sourced, so you can always feel good about what you are putting into your body.
Meet Chef Josh Katt, the Founder and CEO of Kitchfix. Katt grew up in Michigan and started his culinary career at various kitchens in the area. He found his way to a popular farm-to-table restaurant where his passion and respect for sustainable agriculture, organic farming, and use of free range animals grew.
In 2006, Katt moved to Chicago and became a personal chef to various clients battling cancer, and through this, he learned to use food as medicine. He created meals using superfoods, clean and anti-flammatory ingredients, organic produce, etc. Katt realized that his approach to food was beneficial not only to his clients but anyone who needed to de-stress. He started off by renting a church kitchen in River North, where he served healthy, ready-to-eat meals to busy people. In March 2o15, they moved to a kitchen in West Town and the rest is history.
The main kitchen and corporate office is located at 1731 W Grand Avenue, where all the meals are prepared with great attention and care.
FAB TIP: There is also a storefront in the Gold Coast at 1165 N State Street where you can purchase meals-to-go, smoothies, bone broth, and more.
To be honest, in the beginning, I was little suspect about how the food was going to taste. Then when I heard it was gluten, dairy, corn, and soy free, I thought it sounded way too healthy. As may have noticed by my Instagram, I love my doughnuts, ice cream, and pizza! But one of my best friends who has celiac highly recommended it, so I kept an open mind and gave it a go. I was amazed at how good the food tasted. It was fresh, well-prepared, and cooked to perfection. I loved it so much, I had to share it with my foodie friends.
Kitchfix graciously hosted two special events for me and my Instagram friends, where we enjoyed a nutrition-forward, chef-crafted dinner inspired by their most popular dishes. They converted their corporate office into a beautiful dining setting with gorgeous flowers, brilliant candles, and hand-crafted name tags. The details were impeccable.
We enjoyed a 4-course, plated dinner created with healthy, energy-giving, functional ingredients from organic and local sources, prepared by Chef Josh Katt and his team.
Menu #1
Vegan Caesar Salad Bite
We started off with a Vegan Caesar Salad Bite. Yes, I said vegan and Caesar in one sentence. A classic Caesar dressing is made with egg but Chef Katt’s version is vegan and paleo friendly. You won’t even miss the egg! The delightful bite was stacked with organic kale, cucumber, sun-dried tomato, and toasted sunflower.
Isn’t it so cute? We obviously had to take a moment to snap a pic.
Grass-Fed Beef Pho
Next, we had the Grass-Fed Beef Pho made with their bone broth. I highly recommend the bone broth at Kitchfix. The pastured bones are slow-cooked for over 18 hours, which releases healing compounds like glycine, glutamine, and collagen… all great for detoxifying and digestion.
The hot beef broth was poured table side, cooking the raw, thinly-sliced, grass-fed beef almost immediately.
Butternut Seafood Paella
The Butternut Seafood Paella was a crowd favorite. Instead of using rice, as most traditional paella recipes do, organic butternut squash was used to create a rice-like texture. It was then topped with plentiful amounts of gulf shrimps, scallops, mussels, and chorizo. The flavor and aroma of the saffron and garlic really brought the dish together.
Gunthrop Farms Chicken Shawarma
Our next course was the Gunthrop Farms Chicken Shawarma. As mentioned earlier, Kitchfix uses locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. Gunthrop Farms in LaGrange, Indiana is their main source for poultry and pork. The animals are raised without antibiotics or hormones and are free to roam around the farm, just as nature intended.
The Chicken Shawarma was bold and full of flavor. The Moroccan-style chicken was juicy and tender while the cashew yogurt tahini added a nice creaminess to the overall dish. All grains used are gluten and corn free.
Chocolate Trio
We ended our meal with the Chocolate Trio because every meal should end with a sweet treat. The trio included: double chip brownie, chocolate avocado mousse, and cocoa sea salt truffle. Who knew your dessert could be delicious AND healthy?
Are you getting hungry, yet?

I invited a few more Instagram friends for a second tasting. Again, Kitchfix transformed their office into an intimate dining setting. The table was adorned with fresh flowers and candles.
Menu #2
Chef Katt and his team created a whole new menu for us to try.
Paleo Poke Bite
Our first bite was a Paleo Poke Bite with fresh ahi tuna, cauliflower rice, cucumber, spicy aioli, and ginger. I couldn’t have any since I am pregnant <sigh!> but I heard it was refreshing and delicious.
Red Thai Curry Soup
The Red Thai Curry Soup was one of my favorites. It was as good as any authentic Thai restaurant in the city. It had a nice spice and robust flavors. I could have eaten a bigger portion as my meal.
Sweet Potato Gnocchi
The Sweet Potato Gnocchi was another crowd favorite. The sweet potato was creatively crafted to have a similar consistency to gnocchi. The smooth cauliflower purée had a wonderful depth without it being too heavy.
Mojito Mahi Mahi
Our main course was the Mojito Mahi Mahi with spiralized vegetables, parsnips, cilantro, mint, and pepitas. Kitchfix uses as much wild-caught seafood as possible. The fish had a tender, flaky texture with a mild taste, which was complemented by the variety of vegetables.
Upside Down Cheesecake
Dairy-free cheesecake? It’s true! We ended our meal with a vegan dessert that tasted just like cheesecake. The guilt-free, decadent “cheesecake” had blueberry, vanilla bean, and a paleo graham cracker crust.
Kitchfix also sells their Grain-Free Granola at your local Mariano’s and Whole Foods as well as on Amazon Prime. I’ll warn you now, it’s highly addictive! And 100% paleo and gluten-free. The nuts and seeds are roasted in coconut oil and no refined sugars are used. The granola is perfect for breakfast or a snack.
Or, you can create your own recipe using the granola as @the_korean_vegan did.
So what do you think? Are you ready to try? As mentioned earlier, use code FAB30 for $30 off your online order. Whether you are a new or current customer, as long as you’ve never used the code before, you can use it.
