Living in Chicago, you never know when the weather will be hot or cold. Good thing we have so many food options for unpredictable weather in the city! My go-to is hot soup or stew, no matter what temperature it is outside. My favorites are Korean stews and soups at Ahjoomah’s Apron….
Fab Review: Formento’s
The West Loop truly is the best loop when it comes to food. From casual restaurants to fine dining, it is a foodie paradise with endless options including burgers, sushi, pastas, BBQ, ramen, coffee shops and more. Formento’s, a classic Italian concept by John Ross and Phil Walters of B Hospitality (Bristol, Balena, Swift & Sons), opened earlier this year and has become one of my favorite spots in the West Loop….

Fab Review: Coalfire Pizza
As a Chicagoan, it is only fitting that pizza is a part of our diets. Who can resist a delicious pie with different toppings, a crispy crust, and gooey cheese? Talk about indulgence! In Chicago, we are known for our signature deep-dish pizza. But if you are not in the mood for deep-dish, there are other options around the city like Coalfire Pizza….

Fab Review: Angry Crab
Happy December! Time to remember and reflect all the great memories we had this year! Angry Crab brings me fond memories. My first experience with crawfish was filled with blunders. I didn’t know how to eat the little sea creatures and was embarrassed because it seemed like everyone else knew what they were doing. Good thing someone spoke up because we all realized that no one actually knew what they were doing. This was especially true since Chicago didn’t have too many crawfish joints at the time. By the time Angry Crab opened up in Chicago and crawfish became popular, my friends and I were already pros at the art of eating crawfish so I decided to create my own guide.
Here is my review of Angry Crab and a step-by-step guide on how to eat crawfish……
Fab Review: Athenian Room
I love finding hidden neighborhood gems that offer cheap eats especially if they serve authentic tasting food. You’ve got me sold for life. The great thing about Chicago is that you can always discover new places to eat. Recently I discovered Athenian Room in Lincoln Park, right around the corner of DePaul….
Fab Review: The Pasta Bowl
Whenever I have a craving for hearty Italian dishes, The Pasta Bowl comes to mind. When I heard they opened up another location in Wicker Park, I knew I had to check it out immediately because I have been going to the original location for years….
Fab Review: El Carrito
Influenced by Mexican street food, El Carrito serves an array of traditional and creative tacos as well as other popular Mexican dishes including tortas, elotes, tamales, and more. Located in West Rogers Park, El Carrito is a hidden gem.
This family-owned business is a casual spot with a focus on fresh and high-quality ingredients. Everything is made from scratch daily and the handmade tortillas are made to order. So yum!
I love venturing out to new places in the city so I was excited to try El Carrito. Oh, it’s BYOB so don’t forget to bring your favorite drink!

Fab Review: Viaggio
Italian food is my favorite type of comfort food. I mean what sounds better than pastas, meatballs, cannolis, and more? Because of my immense love for Italian food, I was definitely thrilled when the Fab Food team got a chance to visit Viaggio in the West Loop. It was an Italian feast unlike any other.
