One of my favorite weekend activities to do in Chicago is to try different brunch spots around town. But after I had my son, my brunch requirements changed. I didn’t want to stop brunching, but needed to find kid-friendly places. A children’s menu, good service and atmosphere are all qualities I look for now….
Working from home can get repetitive so I’m always looking for cool coffee shops I can hang out at all day. Every coffee shop has its own atmosphere and level of comfort. I like to choose based on food options, which vary from pastries to small bites to a full food menu.

Doughnuts are by far the hottest trend in the culinary world right now. A quick scroll through Instagram and you’ll find everything from Cronuts, doughnut ice cream sandwiches, the sushi doughnut, even spaghetti doughnuts (ewww…)! If you happen to be in the Windy City looking for the best doughnuts Chicago has to offer, there’s a good chance you may find yourself overwhelmed with all the different options. That’s where I come in….
Every year, I look forward to Chicago Restaurant Week (which is actually two weeks long) as many restaurants offer special prix fixe menus for a great price. Some of the restaurants even create unique dishes just for those two weeks (January 27 – February 9, 2017). Sadly, today is the last day.

Mitsuwa Marketplace is a large Japanese grocery store in Arlington Heights that also features a food court with various restaurants. If you have never been to Mitsuwa before, it can be a little overwhelming to figure out what you want to eat. From ramen to tempura to matcha ice cream, there are many options in the food court.

What a year it’s been! Lots of questionable and unfortunate things have happened in 2016, but Chicago’s food scene has continued to truck on (pun intended). I’ve been very grateful to be able to explore in greater depth the amazing food that Chicago has to offer, starting with Instagram back in spring and being so lucky to join the Fab Food Chicago team this past October. It’s always hard to make a list of the best things I’ve eaten, so I’ve decided to do a “Top 5 Food Trucks” list to narrow down my options.

The weather is cool and crisp and the leaves are changing colors. Now that the temperature is dropping and it’s sweater weather, it can only mean one thing… the holidays are approaching! It’s almost Thanksgiving, which obviously means it’s the season for treats that taste like fall aka pumpkin flavored treats.

Logan Square is one of my favorite neighborhoods to eat and drink in Chicago because there are so many different types of restaurants for whatever mood you’re in. From Mexican to Italian to sushi, there is sure to be something to suit your taste!

Chicago is the best city to be in the summertime. And, when I hear the word “summer”, the only things I can think about is laying on the beach, dining alfresco, and of course…eating ice cream! It’s a great way to beat the heat.
