Living in Chicago, there are so many different options for desserts. From hot to cold and sweet to savory, there’s something for everyone! For me, I always go for the cold and unique desserts. It was one of those days that I was flipping through my Instagram feed and saw a post from @EverythingErica and @EatTravelRock about a pasta recipe contest, sponsored by The Pasta Bowl, a restaurant specializing in classic Italian comfort food. So I told myself, why not just enter for the fun of it. Knowing my type A personality, (an attribute well known to chefs/pastry chefs), I started thinking of a pasta recipe that bought so much joy to the people I made it for. It’s an incredibly rich Angel Hair Pasta with Prosciutto Cream Sauce that I would only allow myself to make once a year since it is known as a “Heart Attack on a Plate”.

I was that weird kid in high school who would beg her parents for money to take cooking classes or buy cookbooks instead of shopping for clothes and CDs (yes, I’m a child of the 90’s). Now I choose to spend my time and money on all things related to food, whether it is adventures in Chicago or halfway across the globe in Southeast Asia, where I am originally from. My journey has been slow and extremely hard, but it’s been fun. It’s made me the person that I am today.

I came across this brownie recipe while I was leafing through the pages of a celebrity tabloid magazine and was intrigued by the title. My curiosity got the best of me and ended up making it at home. I fell in love with the rich, dense, fudge-like texture brownies. I put own spin on it and in my opinion, tastes even better. I kept the name and it is by far my favorite brownie recipe of all time. Hope you enjoy!

A classic childhood favorite for many, bubble tea or “boba” is on the rise in the Chicago food scene. Expanding upon the boundaries of Chinatown and Chinese restaurants, boba shops are starting to pop up in neighborhoods such as Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Argyle, and Evanston. As a huge boba enthusiast, I could not be more excited about this new trend. Not only does boba invoke the feeling of growing up in a Chinese household but it is also such a fun experience to drink tea and chew boba at the same time. I definitely appreciate a great cup of boba for any situation.
I have been known to frequent the various boba spots below and thus earned the title #BobaQueen. YASSSSS! While people might need a drink after work, I often go for a cup of boba instead. The concept of drinking and eating might sound weird to many, however, it is definitely something that one should try.

The ramen scene has grown rapidly in the last few years and thank goodness for it! There’s just something about that hearty pork bone broth and its rich flavor that seems to strike the right chord with me.
Since I go out to eat ramen so often, I’m known as the #RamenQueen amongst my friends. There was a time when I ate it 7 times in 2 weeks! My absolute obsession for ramen is vast and always expanding. I am always down for a bowl no matter the weather. My favorite type of ramen is the tonkotsu because of its deep and complex flavors.
